Release date: May 2011
A musical voyage from Medieval Italy to Armenia, from the Balkans to the Middle East, this compilation of unique arrangements explores the rich traditions of both folk and classical music. Called a recorder virtuoso by The New York Times, Nina Stern is joined by master percussionist Glen Velez, renowned multi-instrumentalist Shira Kammen and acclaimed oud player and composer Ara Dinkjian. They perform alluring ancient melodies, vibrant estampies from the 14th century, treasures of the famed Armenian bard Sayat Nova, and traditional dances from Bulgaria and Serbia.
