Although the popularity of the viol waned in the 18th century, Johann Sebastian Bach and his son, Carl Philipp, each left behind three sonatas for viol and keyboard. These pieces are not only gems of the German viol repertiore, but also representations of the musical geniuses of these famed members of the Bach dynasty.

Arnie Tanimoto, viola da gamba
