About Sinfonia New York
The orchestra was organized by two highly respected, longtime masters of period instruments: ‘cellist Christine Gummere and flutist Sandra Miller. Their mission is to create an ensemble that captures the energy and emotion of the best chamber music groups.
John Scott was selected as the orchestra’s conductor after soliciting opinions from working musicians and conversations with Mr. Scott. His experience as a conductor, choir master, and organist; his musical intelligence; and his demonstrated rapport with New York City’s period instrument artists made him a unanimous choice.
As audience development and outreach is one of the key missions of Sinfonia New York and GEMS, Inc., a substantial number of tickets most Sinfonia New York concerts will be made available at no charge, in addition to market-priced tickets. |
