EnsembleBreveAn exploration of sparkling pieces composed by two of the most brilliant musical geniuses from the German Baroque – J. S. Bach and G. P. Telemann – as well as elegant suites illustrating the gracious style of the French Baroque by J-M LeClair and F. Couperin.

Ensemble BREVE was inaugurated in 1985 in New York City, as a group offering unique programs of music from many eras on original instruments, in historically informed style. BREVE, the name of the ensemble refers to the essence of great music making – its heartbeat. A breve symbol originally defined the tactus (pulse) a single beat. BREVE has toured the United States, Mexico, and Europe .

Midtown Concerts sponsors lunchtime performances of music of the 18th century and earlier. Ensembles are chosen by a panel of early music specialists from the metropolitan area.
