MUSIC WITH HER SILVER SOUND:
Viol Consorts and Poetry in the Age of Shakespeare.

PartheniaIn Shakespeare’s world, the viola da gamba lent its silver sound to mirth, meditation, and mourning. Join the viols of Parthenia in an exploration of the luminous fantasies of William Byrd and his contemporaries, to the artful reworking of folk tunes, and the boisterous music of the eccentric Tobias Hume.

Beverly Au, bass viol
Lawrence Lipnik, tenor viol and recorder
Rosamund Morley, treble viol
Lisa Terry, bass viol
Paul Hecht, actor

PARTHENIA VIOL CONSORT has for 21 years presented an annual concert series in NYC, collaborating with the early music community’s most esteemed artists. We tour the US, commission new works for viol consort, and record with MSR Classics.
