The Decorated Madrigal.

Watch online here or on YouTube

Rafa Prendergast ~ violin
Kevin Devine ~ harpsichord
Jason Priset ~ theorbo

Some of the most virtuosic and stunning music of the 17th century emerged from the practice of writing divisions on Renaissance madrigals. The evocative madrigals, from masters like Palestrina, Cipriano de Rore, and Lassus, become greater than the sum of their parts when embellished by the likes of Rognoni and Bassano. Intermittently, we bring you songs and dances by Monteverdi, Frescobaldi, and more, to cleanse the palate.

Richard Pittsinger, Rafa Prendergast, Kevin Devine, and Jason Priset all share a deep love for early 17th-century repertoire. They collaborated for the first time during a production of Luigi Rossi’s Orfeo, and are thrilled to continue to bring this exquisite music to life.
