Le Retour: music for two viols from the Golden Age of French music.ev pier2

Join Empire Viols à deux performing some of the glorious viol music from the French baroque, taking as inspiration the words of Couperin: “Although a harpsichord or a theorbo can be added to this piece, it will sound best on two viols, with nothing else added.”

Founded in 1994, Empire Viols focuses on the rich repertoire for two viols and harpsichord, expanding it with adventurous transcriptions of music originally for other instruments. The ensemble performs in the Northeast U.S. and beyond and was featured on composer Debra Kaye's debut CD, And So It Begins.
