Ospedale della Pietà

Acronym updated pictureFollowing their previous exploration of composer Johann Rosenmüller’s work while at the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice has naturally led ACRONYM to take a fresh look at Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Rosenmüller and Vivaldi held the same position at the Venetian school, just decades apart. ACRONYM’s arrangement of The Four Seasons is a continuous reading of the masterpiece.

Baroque string band ACRONYM is dedicated to recording and giving modern premieres of the wild instrumental music of the seventeenth century. Early Music America Magazine writes “the idiomatic performances and spacious recording by these young musicians are absolutely first rate. This is a disc … belonging in everyone’s collection.” ACRONYM’s all-Valentini album was praised in Gramophone for being “played with expertise, enthusiasm, and an almost tactile sense of timbre.” Recent and upcoming engagements include Music Before 1800, Hamilton College Performing Arts Series, Academy of Early Music (Ann Arbor), Miami Bach Society’s Tropical Baroque Festival, Electric Earth Concerts (Peterborough, NH) and the Five Boroughs Music Festival. http://www.acronymensemble.com
