Fracture and Restoration: Songs for a Weary World in Search of Healing
“Homo per potentiam similis efficitur patri…per benignum spiritam…mores dans dulcedinum…” This 13th-century extract suggests that a human becomes divine through a benign, gentle spirit – by giving sweetness of manners. The message is clear, yet in our fractured world we have yet to embrace it. Join Concordian Dawn for a look to a distant past for cathartic respite and inspiration: performing excerpts from Hildegard’s Ordo Virtutum, selections from Le Roman de Fauvel and Carmina Burana, music by Dunstable and Byttering, and rarely performed works from some of the 13th century’s most important musical manuscripts.
