Huehuetenango

The duo of Argentine artists explores the rich repertoire of 16th-century sacred music from Guatemala. The music was used in religious services in the churches of Santa Eulalia, San Juan Ixcoi, and San Mateo Ixtatan in the department of Huehuetenango. This program explores the repertoire through a dialogue with contemporary European collections including the famous Cancionero de Upsala and the tablature collections by Pierre Attaignant — with special emphasis on pieces that are exclusive to the Guatemalan books.
