Zoe Kushubar ~ violin
Grace McKenzie ~ violin

Classical and early Romantic string quintets are a staple of the period’s repertoire, highlighting affective and compositional prowess with five voices. However, they are more often heard in the realm of modern performance, and not in their original historical sound world. With the five members of Euterpe Quartet — or, shall we say Euterpe Quintet! — stunning music by Mozart and Beethoven is brought to life with the pitch and instruments they would have expected and imagined.
Quartet Euterpe is an historically-informed quartet driven by scholarly rigor and technical mastery through the exploration of Classical and early-Romantic periods. The ensemble is comprised of a quintet of players, rotating based on program and repertoire demands. The quartet has been selected as the Carmel Bach Festival Baroque and Classical Academy quartet-in-residence for the summer of 2026. Its members perform with ensembles including ARTEK, Teatro Nuovo, Juilliard415, Theotokos, and others.
