Catherine Turocy (Artistic Director)

The New and Curious School of Theatrical Dancing from 1716 by Gregorio Lambranzi inspires dances for the Harlequin, a dancer with two fronts and no back, a 3-legged dancer, a shepherdess, etc. Masked and unmasked, the dancers, under the direction of Catherine Turocy, are sure to delight with curious, comic, and sublime works of the 18th-century fair and opera stage.

A leading force in the revival of 18th-century ballet, challenging aesthetic conventions and bringing forgotten masterpieces to new audiences in what The London Guardian has called “a whirlwind of desperately needed fresh air,” The New York Baroque Dance Company celebrates fifty years of training performing artists and receiving international recognition for its concerts and opera-ballets.
