Music Before 1800 opens its 51st season with Brooklyn-based ensemble East of the River. On the eve of the Jewish New Year, this program evokes the cycle of life — the sacred and the secular. From synagogues to Shabbat dinners, from wedding parties to kitchen hearths, with songs about the joys, sorrows, and yearnings of everyday life, this program celebrates the rich traditions of the Sephardic diaspora.
