We curate Handel’s little-known stage works into one-hour, approachable performances in New York City gardens, libraries, and other neighborhood gathering centers. Contrasting opera’s usually expensive and exclusionary productions, these performances are offered free of charge in Alphabet City, Crown Heights, Flushing, and other locales where the community has little opportunity to witness live classical music. Handel’s deeply expressive writing for the human voice reaches the pinnacle of emotion in art. Opera Essentia offers this in a concise one-act format, performed by a diverse company of expert musicians, delivering a transformational experience that all can enjoy.
