Rhythm of Light ~ A Diwali Celebration
Celebrate Diwali, India’s famous Festival of Lights, with a mesmerizing concert curated by Grammy-winning tabla maestro Sandeep Das! Rooted in ancient mythology, Diwali marks Lord Rama’s victory over the evil King Ravana, and the Goddess Kali’s destruction of ignorance and darkness. This evening’s program will embody the festival’s essence — light conquering darkness and hope overcoming despair. Repertoire will draw from shastriya sangeet, the classical music of the Indian subcontinent, which is both a modern, living tradition, and an icon of the ancient world, stemming from over 4,000 years of innovation and cultivation.
Sunday, October 19 at 5 pm
