The Troubadours
Troubadours and Beyond ~ Songsters of the Middle Ages
A concert of secular music from the northern reaches of Europe (the “trouvères” and meister singers) to the southern Occitan and Galician traditions of love and longing. Middle Eastern strains, jaunty folk rhythms, bawdy verses, and laments of bitter woe will take you through a musical journey to nearly 900 years ago. Expect rock star composers of the Middle Ages — Hildegard von Bingen, Guillaume de Machaut, and King Richard the Lionheart — along with music by unknown composers, all performed by our modern-day Troubadours. Be ready to sing along with Carmina Burana’s Totus Floreo in the finale!
