However\, they are more often heard in the realm of modern performance\, and not in their original historical sound world. With the five members of Euterpe Quartet — or\, shall we say Euterpe Quintet! — stunning music by Mozart and Beethoven is brought to life with the pitch and instruments they would have expected and imagined. \nEuterpe Quartet aims to share energetic and intimate interpretations of repertoire spanning the 17th century to the present. Formed in 2024 and driven by scholarly rigor\, technical mastery\, and — most importantly — human connection\, the period-instrument ensemble takes its name from the Greek goddess and muse of lyric poetry and music. DESCRIPTION:Bel Canto Notturno\nAmalia Crevani ~ soprano\nEmily Hughes ~ mezzo-soprano\nMatt Zucker ~ cello\nWill Crutchfield ~ fortepiano \nA staple of chamber music in the late Classical and early Romantic era (circa 1780–1830) was the Italian Notturno for two voices with continuo or fully-composed keyboard part. This genre\, a descendant of the Baroque chamber cantata\, remains very little explored today; hundreds of gems await rediscovery. Teatro Nuovo’s concentration on early Romantic opera poises its musicians to lead this revival. Teatro Nuovo’s 1804 Lonsdale fortepiano (plus cello as appropriate) provides the ideal period accompaniment. \nTeatro Nuovo was founded in 2018 with the mission of exploring new paths in the interpretation of classic Italian opera. It now fills a unique role on the operatic scene by taking the insights of the early music movement forward into the Romantic era. At the heart of this tale\, Handel’s “wordless opera” transforms tragic motifs from Tamerlano into an instrumental dialogue. From this dramatic center\, the journey unfolds into the gestural world of C.P.E. Bach’s Empfindsamkeit. \nFounded in 2024 and dedicated to 18th-century French and German instrumental music\, Passiones Animae draws its inspiration from the Cartesian concept of the “Passions of the Soul.” This flexible ensemble is defined by an approach where interpretive vulnerability and honesty shape the musical discourse. Passiones Animae’s goal is to convey the intensity of the affections in a way that is both genuine and accessible.
