296 DuoSeraphimNiccolo Seligmann, Viola da Gamba
Sarah Hawkey, Soprano

The term "French Baroque music" usually recalls the grandeur of 18th-century Versailles. In this program, Duo Seraphim relish in the delicacy of 17th-century French music. From the ethereal delight of Moulinié's lute songs to the brash individuality of Machy's dance music, this program celebrates the cozy effervescence of French music before Lully.

Featuring soprano Sarah Hawkey and viola da gambist Niccolo Seligmann, Duo Seraphim brings new perspectives to old repertoire, performing rarely heard music with intimacy and verve, and approaching historical performance with masterful ease and delightful enthusiasm. We are overjoyed to share our debut season with Gotham Early Music Scene!
