NewConsort Elizabeth van Os 2019 600x420Few works match the heartfelt expressions of love and grief of the déplorations written by the great Franco-Flemish composers upon the deaths of their teachers and friends. For the 500th anniversary of Josquin des Prez's own death, The New Consort explores these remarkable works by Josquin, Mouton, Gombert, Compère, and more, including a newly commissioned déploration from Simon Frisch on texts collected from Josquin's epitaph and other composers' tributes.

Winners of the American Prize in Chamber Music, The New Consort is a vocal ensemble directed by baritone Brian Mummert. Musical variety is an integral part of the ensemble's identity; by embracing contrasts and drawing diverse works into conversation, The New Consort encourages audiences to forge connections with unfamiliar genres of musical expression.
