Brandenburg Concertos

Praised for their “dramatic vigor” (The New York Times), the virtuosos of Trinity Baroque Orchestra perform Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. As we approach the tricentennial (1721) of this beloved collection, these concertos remain a celebrated example of Bach’s imperishable genius. This is a rare opportunity to hear all six of these iconic masterpieces performed on historic instruments, under the direction of Julian Wachner.

Rameau Dardanus

Loaded with some of the best music Rameau ever wrote, Dardanus penetrates the emotional violence of a war-torn world in which enemies love, allies hate, and where the conflict between duty and devotion makes death seem the only escape. British director John La Bouchardière strips this ever-contemporary subject to its fiercely poignant core. Baroque specialist Avi Stein conducts the US premiere of Rameau’s dramatically taut 1744 version of the opera.

Trinity Church Wall Street presents its acclaimed performance of Handel’s Messiah conducted by Julian Wachner, the director of music and the arts.

Messiah and Trinity have a long history – Trinity presented one of the first performances of the work in North America in 1770, and the GRAMMY®-nominated Choir of Trinity Wall Street and Trinity Baroque Orchestra are still widely regarded as some of the greatest interpreters of the work. Last year, The New York Times described Trinity’s presentation as “perhaps the essential New York ‘Messiah.’ With the church’s choir and the Trinity Baroque Orchestra, Mr. Wachner provides gritty, gutsy, edge-of-the-seat performances.”

Please note that due to the rejuvenation of Trinity Church, this year’s performances will take place at St. Paul’s Chapel at Broadway and Fulton Street with floor and balcony seating. Some seats are limited view or monitor-only view; ticket prices have been adjusted accordingly.

Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the performance. There will be no late seating within the first half of the concert, so those arriving late cannot be accommodated until intermission.

Running time: 3 hours with one 20-minute intermission.
