Orlando: Hero of Love
"Orlando: Hero of Love" is a 70-minute distillation of Handel's masterpiece of 1732. Opera Essentia is a chamber company of five singers — Artistic Director/Countertenor Jeffrey Mandelbaum, Sopranos Heather Hill and Elyse Kakacek, Mezzo-Soprano Hai-Ting Chinn, and Bass Hans Tashjian. These historically informed performances employ a gut string quartet plus harpsichord — Rafa Prendergast, Jessica Park, Jessica Troy, Cullen O'Neil, and Rebecca Pechefsky. We make music outdoors within communities, welcoming all to experience the magnificence of Handel's sound world.
