Bowed and plucked bass instruments come together for this program celebrating their uniquely rich musical histories. Featuring a collection of music by composers including Diego Ortiz, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Marin Marais, Domenico Gabrielli, and Antonio Vivaldi.

Kevin Payne ~ theorbo and lute 

Acclaimed musicians Caroline Nicolas and Kevin Payne have appeared together around North America, Europe and Asia. Engagements include Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein, Early Music Seattle, Victoria Baroque and Barock Nord West. They are both recipients of The English Concert in America’s fellowship, and are graduates of The Juilliard School and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.

Midtown Concerts sponsors lunchtime performances of music of the 18th century and earlier. Ensembles are chosen by a panel of early music specialists from the metropolitan area.
