Proof of vaccination and the wearing of a mask are required for entry into our events.

Disclaimer: An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other viruses or bacteria that cause sickness exists in any public space where people are present. We cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to such pathogens during your attendance at our event.

By attending our events in person, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to infectious disease and hereby waive all potential claims relating to such risks.

Safety and Service: Gotham Early Music Scene is focused on facilitating outstanding early music performances while keeping our patrons, musicians, and staff safe. We pledge to follow relevant CDC and City guidelines – and in some cases to go beyond them – for those events we service or produce/co-produce.

Basic Requirements:

  • Vaccination: All audience members, staff, and performers must show proof of being fully vaccinated with an FDA or WHO authorized vaccine. We regret that only children who have been fully vaccinated may attend our events at this time.
  • Masks: All artists, audience members, and staff must remain properly masked once inside the venue where a performance takes place. The mask should cover the nose and the mouth.
Some musicians may choose, once on stage, to perform unmasked, for instance in cases where they are all in the same “pod.” This is allowed only if there are at least six feet between them and the nearest audience members.
  • Contact Tracing and Waiver: All who enter the church or hall must sign a Contact Tracing check-in sheet, giving either a phone number or email for contact tracing. Your signature indicates you’ve read the COVID-19 Disclaimer on our website and on the check-in sheet.
  • COVID Status: If you have tested positive for COVID, or conversely, if you have been exposed to COVID-19 and not had a subsequent negative PCR test, please contact GEMS for a refund and do not attend the event you’ve purchased a ticket for.

What to Expect at the Door:
When you arrive at a GEMS event, please show your vaccination card or pass to the Greeter at the door.

Once the Greeter has confirmed that you are masked and fully vaccinated and allows you to enter the venue, the rest of the front-of-house experience will be mostly familiar:

  • Box office: Need to buy or pick up a ticket, go to the box office table.
  • Show Your Ticket: To show your previously purchased ticket, go to the ticket taker’s table.
  • Check-in Sheet: At either table, you’ll be asked to sign a check-in sheet and give either your phone number or your email address.
  • Once you’ve signed, you can take your seat or ask an usher to help you find seating, general or reserved, as the case may be. In most instances, an usher will hand you a program, but occasionally you may be directed to pick up a program that has been prepositioned at the back of the hall or sanctuary.

Seating an audience will take longer with these additional steps in place. Please arrive no later than 10 minutes before the start of any program. We cannot guarantee seating for anyone who arrives later.

GEMS encourages (but does not require) social distancing at events where all are fully vaccinated and masked. That being said, we reserve the right to limit the number of concert attendees when conditions require social distancing. In such circumstances, subscribers would be given first access, and then a reduced number of single tickets made available.

Early music is one of the balms that helps all of us maintain our balance and calm in these stressful times. Thank you for showing forbearance as we institute these additional safety measures, which are designed to keep everyone feeling confident and protected as we return to in-person events and rediscover the joys of live music.

We thank you for your patience as we navigate this evolving situation together.
