This program features baroque dances reconstructed by Kazuhito Hiruma from the French court and theater under the reigns of Louis XIV and Louis XV. There are additional works newly choreographed in the baroque style, performed with the musicians of the New Amsterdam Consort.

New Amsterdam Consort, founded and directed by harpsichordist Robert Warner, is a period-instrument ensemble of Juilliard graduates specializing in string music from the Renaissance through the high Baroque. Kazuhito Hiruma and Zahra Brown are founding members of the baroque dance ensemble Parnassus.

Midtown Concerts sponsors lunchtime performances of music of the 18th century and earlier. Ensembles are chosen by a panel of early music specialists from the metropolitan area.
