Filigree Ensemble, sponsored by ARTEK, presents Toxic Love — a musical exploration of the darker side of love and rejection in Italian and English song. For centuries, women have navigated living and finding love in a world rife with misogyny. Toxic Love highlights the objectification of women in Victorian era music, the violent rhetoric embedded in pining laments as well as playful love declarations, and the consequences women suffered in the name of love.
