Capuleti duoBellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi

Teatro Nuovo presents bel canto classics and rarities with a period-instrument orchestra and a performing style The Wall Street Journal calls “transformative.” Vincenzo Bellini had no plans to write a Romeo and Juliet opera, but when last-minute circumstances led him to the story, it proved the perfect match for his gift of endless melody. The resulting work quickly spread to every opera-loving city in the world, and produced what Philip Gossett called “the most moving final scene in all of Italian opera.”
