Johann Pachelbel is celebrated for his piece Canon in D, which has become an icon of Baroque music and a phenomenon in the modern musical vernacular. Discover more of Johann Pachelbel through a harpsichord concert featuring some of his most brilliant keyboard works. The program concludes with an improvisation on the timeless bassline from Canon in D, inspired by Pachelbel.
New York-based harpsichordist Jonathan Salamon, a 2019 Mathieu Duguay Early Music Competition prizewinner, is the principal keyboardist with the Chamber Orchestra of New York. He has performed and presented scholarship in the United States and abroad and was a 2020–2021 Netherlands Fulbright Scholar. Jonathan earned his undergraduate degree from NYU and holds Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Yale in Harpsichord Performance.
