Suffer a Sea Change: Women in Transformation.

Vivi Cantando

The Livestream concert has been canceled because of the stay-at-home order in Maryland.

"Nothing of him that doth fade, but doth suffer a sea-change, into something rich and strange." -William Shakespeare

This program centers around the term "Sea Change," coined from Shakespeare's play The Tempest. Each piece presents a woman undergoing a metamorphosis or transformative experience, whether to her benefit or demise. Vivi Cantando returns with another potent theme of human emotion and potential for growth.

Julie Bosworth, soprano
Janna Critz, mezzo-soprano
Niccolo Seligmann, bass viol
Cameron Welke, Renaissance lute and theorbo

Our namesake, Vivi Cantando, is derived from "O come sei gentile" found in Monteverdi's seventh book of Madrigals. The name translated means "live singing." While we love collaborating with instrumentals, our mission in creating this ensemble was to celebrate the singing arts and to create a true human experience through the sung word.
