Enjoy a program presenting Baroque music and dance from the courts and villages of Europe and the New World, with excerpts from Tom Zajac’s reconstruction of Codex Trujillo, danced by Carlos Fittante and company members of the BALAM Dance Theatre and featuring guest musicians including, Maureen Murchie on Baroque violin.

BALAM Dance Theatre, inspired by the opulence and theatricality of Balinese theatre was founded in 1979 by choreographer and movement analyst Islene Pinder. BALAM brings eclectic programming that offers a spectrum of traditional and original work representing diverse culture and time periods.

Lisa Terry specializes in viola da gamba and violoncello and is a member of Parthenia Viol Consort. A principal cellist and viol soloist with Tempesta di Mare, Philadelphia’s baroque orchestra, she has appeared to great acclaim as soloist with noted orchestras across the country. She is the Vice-President of the Viola da Gamba Society of America.

Maureen Murchie was born in the United States but raised in Sendai, Japan. Widely sought after as an orchestral, chamber, and solo player on violin and viola, Ms. Murchie has held leadership roles in with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Artists of Champaign-Urbana, Sinfonia da Camera, with whom she toured China in 2007.
