The Dowry of a French-Cypriot Princess

In 1434, Anne, the daughter of King Janus of Cyprus and Charlotte of Bourbon, married Louis, Duke of Savoy. Within her dowry was a large and remarkable manuscript containing more than 200 unique and anonymous works. It remains the only surviving witness to the rich tapestry of music heard in the court of Nicosia, exhibiting a fusion of native Cypriot musical traditions with the rhythmically complex French Ars Subtilior.
Les Trois Âges came into being out of the shared passions of three generations of early musicians. Drawing on their

extensive collective performing and scholarly experience, Judith Malafronte, mezzo-soprano, Christopher Preston-Thompson, tenor and harp, Rachel Begley, historical winds, and their guests unite for adventurous and virtuosic programs of music from the late Middle Ages and Renaissance.
