Music of Handel and his contemporaries

Ensemble Melos

Featuring Handel’s songs and instrumental music, Ensemble Melos are going to bring The 9 German arias to the Midtown audience. The text was taken from Irdisches Vergnügen in Gott, (Earthly Pleasure in God), set by Barthold Brockes, who Handel encountered in Halle, Germany. Except for vocal music, Handel’s Trio sonata for flute and violin, Suite for harpsichord, and a delightful dessert by Handel’s rival in England--Nicola Porpora’s music are also on their menu.

Christina Kay, Soprano
Mili Chang, Baroque flute
Kate Goddard, Baroque violin
Matt Zucker, Baroque cello
Benjamin Katz, Harpsichord
