The Dawn of Classical Music
This group of unaccompanied mixed voices, formed in 2005, will pick up where they left off in 2011, with a concert of two gorgeous, rarely-heard, complete masses — one by Josquin des Prez (Une Mousse de Biscaye), and the other by Heinrich Isaac (Een vrolic wesen). This music demonstrates that the rules of classical harmony and counterpoint of the Baroque, Classic, and early Romantic periods were already well established and beautifully executed by Renaissance composers before 1500.
